A recital series with a rich and varied past, The Magic of the Viola was already a much-anticipated, regular fixture on the Pacific Palisades chamber music calander by the mid-1980s. The brainchild of its founder, violist Peter Hatch, the series presented a long, unbroken string of fascinating forays into the realm of viola solo and chamber music that eventually illuminated nearly every corner of the repertoire. From music for solo viola, to concerted ensembles such as septets, string sextets and piano quartets, and nearly every conceivable combination in between, violist Peter Hatch, together with many of the finest musicians in Los Angeles, brought to the stage a fascinating musical feast sure to include something for everyone: World premieres of new music, premieres of not-so-new music, well-loved masterpieces... all played with enthusiasum in well-tempered, skillful performances.

After a period of several years during which the series was mostly silent, this announcement of generous support from PROdigital Records, coupled with the collaboration of Theatre Palisades signals the return of The Magic of the Viola to the concert calendar.
