Magic of the Viola: Recital in Pacific Palisades

On Sunday, February 3, 2002 at 8:00PM, Peter Hatch will be heard in his annual viola recital with pianist Bryan Pezzone and guest artist, clarinetist Michael Arnold. The program will feature viola sonatas by Bach and Hindemith and Mozart's "Kegelstadt Trio" for Viola, Clarinet and Piano.

The concert marks the first public performance by the violist since recording his new "Magic of the Viola" album with Bryan Pezzone. A joint production by PROdigital Records and Yamaha Discklavier, the new album contains 16 songs, arias and genre pieces for viola and piano and will be available for the first time at the concert.

Pianist Bryan Pezzone has been heard in concerts as soloist with orchestras throughout the US, in film and TV as studio pianist, and has lately won notice as a composer of film music and songs, one of which is included on the "Magic of the Viola" album.

Peter Hatch’s annual recital series The Magic of the Viola has been heard in Pacific Palisades since 1985. In that time, the innovative series has illuminated virtually every corner of the viola repertoire, presenting numerous first performances of music from the 18th-century to the 20th-century with an emphasis on chamber music.

The concert is sponsored by PROdigital Records and Theatre Palisades. Proceeds from the concert benefit Theatre Palisades. Admission is $15.00 and reservations can be made by calling (310) 454-8040.
